In order to be vaccinated you first need to be registered in the Netherlands in the Personal Records Database (BRP), meaning you will have received a BSN. With this BSN you can schedule your appointment.
All residents will receive an invitation from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) with instructions on how to make your appointment as well as the health declaration that you must fill in before your appointment. You can schedule an appointment online, even if you have not received the invitation yet. You will still need to download and fill in the health declaration prior to your appointment, which can be found here.
The most efficient way of scheduling an appoinment is online using your DigiD. This way you can schedule both vaccination appointments at the same time. If you want to schedule your appointment online, click here.
You can also schedule an appointment by calling the national municipal health service (GGD), or your GP. You will need to wait for your personal invitation, containing the appropriate number to call.
If you schedule your appointment through these conventional ways, you will receive an mRNA vaccine, either the BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
As of June 23rd, it is possible for everyone over the age of 18 to voluntarily request a vaccination with the Janssen vaccine. The Dutch government no longer standardly gives the Janssen vaccine without a specific appointment as well as with verbal consent during the appointment. For this vaccine you will only need one appointment, but you will need to call a specific number of the municipal health service to schedule this appointment. This number is 0800 – 1295.
If you already scheduled a regular appointment for the BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, but would prefer to get a Janssen vaccine, you can call the same number to reschedule your appointment for a Janssen vaccination instead.
